Happy Birthday, Dad!

My dad's birthday was last week. Katie and I tried to take him out to lunch (he ended up taking us out to lunch), and that evening was spent going to the temple, eating out at Mimi's Cafe, and opening presents and eating cupcakes at my parent's house. It was a fun night with family.

Since it is my dad's birthday, I want to take the opportunity to say some things that I admire about him. My dad is such an amazing person. He is so smart, and always has great advice. He can always see things from every angle, and often thinks of solutions to problems that I never would have thought of. He is the ultimate Mr. Fixit, and he has been such a big help with our house! Whenever we have a question about anything, we know we can always call my dad and he will have the answer. He is always willing to lend a helping hand, and will come to our house at all hours of the night to help us with things. He once spent a whole weekend working on katie's car and my house.

I think my favorite thing about my dad is how he treats other people. He is so caring and non-judgemental. He is always able to see the good in everyone, and in everything. He has taught me that everyone has value and has something to contribute. He shows love and respect for everyone. He is the perfect example of Christlike love and charity, and I hope that I can be as great as he is someday!

One of my favorite stories of my dad is a perfect example of the love he has for people. He was at a fast food restaurant and saw a homeless man. Most people would just give the guy a dollar or two, then forget about him. My dad chose to go sit by him and eat with him, giving him companionship and talking to him for a while, then gave him some money before he left. This is just the kind of guy my dad is.

Happy Birthday, Dad! I love you so much! Thanks for being such a great role-model for me and the family! The world is a better place because you are in it!
Mimi's Cafe:

On the way to Grandpa's (which is now Priya's favorite word. She sits in the car and repeats "Bampa" over, and over, and over, and over, and...):

For the last few years, we have given my dad a nutcracker for his birthday. We decided to keep up with the tradition this year and give him a silver one

The cupcakes. Katrina brought some on our girl's weekend with raspberries on them. I thought they were so cute, we just had to copy it!
